I recently had the pleasure of visiting Pastai and indulging in their take on tiramisu. This beloved Italian dessert often sees various creative twists, but Pastai’s version offered a refreshing and delightful experience.

One of the first things that caught my eye was the mint decoration on top. It added a refreshing touch, both visually and in flavour. The mint was subtle yet invigorating, providing a pleasant contrast to the rich cocoa. Speaking of cocoa, the amount used was just right. It enhanced the flavour without overpowering the other elements, maintaining a perfect balance. The strong dusting across the top sat neatly in serving dish, with only small traces dotting the edge.

The presentation of the tiramisu was nothing short of impressive. Served in a charming terracotta pot, it not only looked appealing but also gave a rustic, homely feel to the dessert. This high level of presentation set the stage for the indulgence that followed.

The texture of the ladyfingers was perfect. They retained their slight crispiness, offering a delightful contrast to the creamy layers. However, I noticed that the coffee flavor was quite limited. While this might appeal to those who prefer a less intense coffee taste, traditional tiramisu lovers might find it lacking in that characteristic depth.

The creaminess of the tiramisu was very good—rich and smooth. However, it leaned a bit heavy, and I felt it could benefit from a few more ladyfingers to balance out the texture. The terracotta pot, while aesthetically pleasing, contributed to an uneven distribution of ingredients. The cream filled the gaps more heavily, leading to a lack of ladyfingers near the bottom.

Overall, Pastai’s tiramisu is a delectable treat with a few minor adjustments needed for perfection. The refreshing mint, perfect ladyfinger texture, and high presentation make it a memorable dessert. If they could enhance the coffee flavour and ensure a more even distribution of ladyfingers throughout, it would elevate the experience to the next level. Nonetheless, it’s a delightful spin on a classic that is definitely worth trying.
